William Burleson has his feet in several communities as an activist and writer. As a writer, he is the author of Bi America: Myths, Truths, and Struggles of an Invisible Community, a book about the bisexual community and the bisexual experience. Burleson is a frequent contributor to the Lambda Book Report, reviewing LGBT books of note and former columnist for Lavender Magazine in Minneapolis, where he wrote the columns As The Bill Tolls looking at LGBT community groups in the Twin Cities and In the Pink, examining LGBT health. He was also a frequent contributor to the now defunct GLBT Press paper in the Twin Cities. His writing is now focused on literary fiction, having completed many short stories and is proud of his new manuscript: Avenue of the Lost and Found. As an activist, Burleson is a regular speaker and workshop facilitator at college campuses, workplace LGBT groups, conferences, events, and community groups. Past projects include serving as one of the founders of the Bisexual Organizing Project, a Minnesota advocacy and support organization, twice coordinating BECAUSE: the Midwest Conference on Bisexuality, and co-founding and producing for five years the weekly Minneapolis cable access television show, BiCities! Burleson is active in the non-profit sector, serving on the board of directors and as VP of Programming for PFund, a LGBT foundation. In the past he served as Vice-Chair for the Men's Center, a social service agency, where he founded a support group for bisexual men. He currently is employed as a communications professional.
